DMX-TR1 Xplorer (DMX-TR1)
The DMX-TR1 is ideal for professionals and hobbyists that need to quickly and easily add DMX-512 transmission and/or reception to their project.

This MikroBUS compatible board can simultaneously transmit and receive 1 universe (512 channels) of DMX data, automatically and continuously. This relieves the customers host MCU of the demands and overhead necessary when streaming DMX512 data, and may allow the use of smaller MCU's, with lower clock speeds, and smaller Flash / RAM.

  • Based on our own XTEC XT-1401A DMX processor (IC available for purchase on this web store)
  • 1 universe (512 channels) transmit, with transmit enable pin
  • 1 universe (512 channels) receive. 120ohm termination switch for receive. RX pin indicates to host when DMX is being received.
  • Host MCU communication via simple 4-wire SPI. Also has pins for Receive OK, Transmit enable, and Reset. 
  • Complies with USSIT DMX512-A (non-isolated)
  • Uses the "MikroBUS" form-factor, allowing the board to be quickly plugged in to a wide variety of host development boards from MikroElekronika, Microchip and others. Shields are available for Audrino and other boards without a native MikroBUS connector. You can of course also use jumper wires, or plug the DMX-TR1 into a prototyping breadboard. 
  • DMX in and out via screw terminal block, for quick connection
  • 3.3v DC power, with LED. 5v tolerant MCU interface.
  • Code examples available for Microchip, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, MikroElektronika etc. We have even done an example using the ultra-low cost Padauk MCU's, to highlight just how basic the host MCU can be.

Note: The DMX512 interface on this board is non-isolated.

    The XT1401A is intended to simplify the transmission and reception of DMX512 lighting control data in customer products. It will automatically and continuously send and receive DMX512 formatted data, which a host processor may then read / write via SPI.

    The XT1401A relieves the host of the demands and overhead necessary when streaming DMX512 data, and allows the use of lower host clock speeds, smaller Flash and RAM. It will reduce product development time, and lead to overall faster time-to-market.

    Note: The XT1401A requires the customer to include their own design for RS-485 interfacing, since the requirements are application specific.
